Magic Stones
BARBARA HEPWORTH MUSEUM & SCULPTURE GARDEN
Handheld replicas of Hepworth’s Magic Stones - produced for audiences with visual impairments.
3D digital scans of artworks in the garden at Hepworth’s Trewyn Studio in St Ives were made, and resized to create new moulds for casting.
Three sets were produced - in plaster, bronze, and acrylic. The stones are numbered 1, 2 & 3, and the storage box has corresponding indentations in the lid, so that the stones can be reset to the original composition - as laid out by the artist.
Each stone is weighted so that it naturally falls into the position of the original arrangement.
